Jeff Coffin Touring With DMB

Jeff Coffin, member of Béla Fleck and the Flecktones, has recently discovered that he will be temporarily filling in for LeRoi Moore of Dave Matthews Band, who was injured in an ATV accident in Virginia on June 30. Although serious at first, Moore’s condition has been upgraded to “good” and updates on his health are available on the Dave Matthews Band website. Moore is expected to make a full recovery and will be able to return to the band eventually, but for now, Coffin will be finishing up the 2008 tour with DMB.

This Nashvillian and two-time Grammy Award Winner is known for his shining saxophone skills that add a jazz aspect to many different genres of music. Coffin has traveled worldwide with the Flecktones and has played with bands ranging from Van Morrison to Phish. Coffin also leads his own group, Mu’tet, derived from the word “mutation” which stems from his belief that music is forever changing and reinventing itself.

You can catch Coffin’s sax skills while he’s on tour with DMB this summer, or when he makes appearances in August with the Flecktones in Philadelphia and Boston. For more information about both tours, visit HIS WEBSITE.
