Anyone who wonders what it would have been like to hang out with Jeff Buckley in his living room and spin vinyl needs to head over to Jeff Buckley: The Record Collection. Debuting today, this interactive music destination is a rabbit hole of musical styles, offering fans access to the CDs and vinyl LPs the late legendary artist loved most. To top it off, there’s also new music from Buckley. You and I, a collection of his first studio recordings from 1993, is available for streaming and purchase on the site.

Organized for the OCD-minded in an easy to navigate layout, the site allows visitors to point and scan over the collection to see each record (last name first of course!), click on it and choose to either listen to 30 second samples on the site or stream in full on Spotify. Buckley’s taste was varied, as one would expect, with records ranging from ‘90’s indie band Blake Babies to a plethora of Rush classics. You’ll find artists from various genres (blues, jazz, heavy metal, world music and much more) while perusing the site. Interestingly, it appears Buckley had no music from A or O artists (no Allman Brothers, AC/DC or Roy Orbison?). Perhaps they were lent out to his friends.

The site is a joint effort between Legacy Recordings, the catalog division of Sony Music Entertainment, and Fame House, the (r)evolutionary digital marketing agency and overseen by the artist’s mother, Mary Guibert. The full interactive experience is similar to last year’s Bob Dylan The Cutting Edge website launch by Legacy, which offered visitors the opportunity to be on the fly on the wall in the studio as Dylan recorded, listen to isolated tracks of songs and more. It’s been said the best way to get to know a person is to browse through their record collection. With Jeff Buckley: The Record Collection, fans are able to dig deeper into the mind of Buckley’s musical tastes and the muses who inspired him.
