Jam Cruise and Relix are bringing back Vote to the Boat, a popular contest they introduced on Jam Cruise 6. Jam Cruise chooses ten bands across the US, which will then compete to win the chance to perform on Jam Cruise 8. JC8 will provide voters with a link to an online form that automatically generates votes.

Last year, Jam Cruise 7 boasted the largest ship in the MSC fleet, the Orchestra, which sailed to Belize and Costa Maya. Artists included Les Claypool, Medeski, Martin and Wood, and Michael Franti, among 23 others.

This year’s artists include STS9, The Word, Zappa Plays Zappa, Galactic, Lotus, Railroad Earth, with over 30 others. Jam Cruise 8 will set sail on January 3, 2010 from Florida and make the rounds to both Ocho Rios, Jamaica and George Town, Cayman Islands before returning on the 10th to Ft. Lauderdale.

Most Jam Cruise Artists, in addition to performing two shows, can be seen performing unannounced in the most popular venue, The Jam Room. The Jam Room is a loose atmosphere where musicians joyously collaborate into the wee hours and fans witness unique musical conversations that are otherwise unparalleled.

Jam Cruise 6’s Vote to the Boat Winner was a band from Baltimore called The Bridge. This year, another local band will have the opportunity to join JC8’s line-up. All details of the contest will be announced soon. Watch www.jamcruise.com for updates.
