Kate Bush‘s last studio album was 50 Words for Snow from 2011, but in a rare recent interview, she shared that she’s “very keen” to get back to making music. Bush spoke to the BBC following the release of a short film she wrote and directed to benefit children in the midst of war.

“I’m really looking forward to getting back into that creative space, it’s been a long time,” she told BBC Radio 4. Meanwhile, the black and white short film “Little Shrew,” set to her song “Snowflake” from 50 Words for Snow, works to raise money for the organization War Child.
According to Bush, she’s not currently working on new material. However, she shared that she’s excited by the prospect of getting back into the studio. “I’ve been caught up doing a lot of archive work over the last few years, redesigning our website, putting a lyric book together,” she explained.
Bush continued, “And I’m very keen to start working on a new album when I’ve got this finished. I’ve got lots of ideas.”

Kate Bush Gives Rare Interview, Reveals She’s Eager to Get Back to “Creative Space”
Kate Bush debuted in 1978 at just 19 years old, and shot to further stardom in the 1980s with her influential album Hounds of Love. Her work is singular and complex, and not always understood by the mainstream industry. However, the Netflix series Stranger Things brought Bush a new, widespread audience when it used her song “Running Up That Hill (A Deal With God)” from that 1985 album.
When asked if she’d been wanting to get back into that “creative space” for a while, Bush answered, “Particularly [in] the last year, I’ve felt really ready to start doing something new.”
Pink Floyd’s David Gilmour recently gave an interview where he mentioned he’d been trying to convince Kate Bush to perform live again. This subject was brought up in the interview, and Bush joked, “I’m not there yet.”
Kate Bush’s longtime fans will still be excited to hear this news, though. Even if she doesn’t perform live, just the fact that there’s more Kate Bush music in the world just might possibly be enough. At least, for now.
