Iraq And Roll

If you’ve ever speculated about the weekend habits of Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice (and let’s be honest, who hasn’t?), a couple scenarios may have come to mind: a visit to the symphony, a leisurely tour of an art museum, perhaps even a regular old movie on a particularly “wild” night. If so, you grossly underestimated our fair fighter of foreign affairs.

When not aiding President Bush in all things international, Ms. Rice is in fact not at home watching PBS’s latest World War II special. No my friends, she is rocking and rolling “all nite long” with none other than Kiss.

Rice was recently spotted at a Kiss show in Stockholm, Sweden after attending an international conference regarding the current war in Iraq. A longtime Kiss fan, this was Condi’s first chance to see the band live and she was nothing less than “thrilled.” She and her staff were even granted the chance of having a “meet and greet” session with the boys, where they took photos and signed autographs.

Perhaps Rice’s visit with Kiss will have an effect on her approach to foreign policy. Music is frequently cited as the universal language, and maybe Condi’s recent induction into the “Kiss Army Fan Club” will inspire her to take on the world with the force of ear-piercing guitar solos and larger than life hair, rather than weapons of destruction. One can only hope, but one thing is certain: the Bush administration is fortunate to have Rice around, because underneath that Ph.D. and poised stature is a woman who wants nothing more than to “party every day.”
