UPDATE: We are currently accepting applications for Fall 2016 Internships. We will accept Fall 2016 applications until the deadline of July 31, 2016.
How do I intern at American Songwriter?
American Songwriter seeks ambitious and energetic interns with a strong interest in “the craft of music.” Internships are unpaid, and require 12-30 hours per week in the office. Our internships run in cycles: Spring (January to May), Summer (May to August), and Fall (August to December). All internships are based in Nashville, TN. For a list of all available internship positions and requirements, refer to the descriptions below. All internships are for college credit only.
Editorial Interns
Interns involved in our editorial department are responsible for editing and writing daily news pieces for our online site, transcribing interviews, copy-editing, assisting the editorial staff, and working events sponsored by American Songwriter. Editorial interns will also be involved in minor social networking tasks. Applications should include a resume, cover letter and 2-3 writing clips (preferably published). Previous experience in news writing is preferred but not required.
Marketing Interns
Marketing interns will focus on learning the daily operations of a multimedia company. Interns have the chance to work closely with the American Songwriter community through learning how a small business runs successfully, creating marketing initiatives to utilize/expand social media sites, gaining a knowledge for day-to-day office operations, and working events sponsored by American Songwriter. Applications should include a resume and cover letter. Previous experience in marketing is preferred but not required.
Please send clips and resume to info@americansongwriter.com
