The “More Hearts Than Mine” recently performed a rendition of the National Anthem at the opening of the MLB Home Run Derby yesterday, July 15. Shortly after her performance, she got dragged through the mud pretty harshly online for the less-than-stellar performance. A video of the performance has since gone viral, with many saying that it is the “worst National Anthem performance of all time.”

Now, Andress has spoken out about the performance and revealed that she was drunk before the performance began. And now, she’s going to seek help for what she alluded to be a substance use disorder.

“I’m not gonna bulls**t y’all, I was drunk last night,” Andress said in an X statement today. “I’m checking myself into a facility today to get the help I need. That was not me last night. I apologize to MLB, all the fans, and this country I love so much for that rendition.”

Fans and those who saw the performance have been commenting well-wishes to the singer since it was posted.

“Glad you are owning up to your problem and getting help,” said one fan.

“Wishing you a safe recovery!” said another.

“Good luck in your journey and looking forward to seeing the redemption arc,” said another fan.

Substance abuse is no joke, and it can easily get in the way of an artist’s true talent. Andress has proved before that she’s a stellar singer and songwriter, and we can’t wait to see what she does with her career after recovery.

The History of Bad National Anthem Performances

Ingrid Andress’ poor performance last night was likely due to being under the influence of alcohol. And she is far from the only singer to be given the “worst performer of the National Anthem” label.

Fergie once performed the National Anthem at an NBA game in 2018 that quickly went viral as the “worst” performance of all time. Other artists, including Kat DeLuna, Carl Lewis, Alexis Normand, and Jesse McCartney, have also been listed as some of the worst National Anthem singers.

We wish Andress nothing but the best as she seeks treatment and recovery.
