SatchmoFest went down this weekend in New Orleans’ French Quarter. The festival, now in its 19th year, is dedicated to promoting “the life, legacy and music of Louis Armstrong.”
The festival kicked off at noon Friday and ran through Sunday evening on August 4, which is Armstrong’s birthday.

The festival was produced by French Quarter Festivals, Inc and created in conjunction with the New Orleans Jazz Museum.
The museum hosted lectures and discussions throughout the weekend. Here, jazz historian Jerry Roche (pictured left) and Ricky Riccardi, an archivist at the Armstrong House Museum, discuss an Armstrong live album recorded in Europe that was recently released.
