III Points Music Festival has announced the lineup for its upcoming 10th-anniversary fall show, set to begin on October 20 in Miami, Florida. Headliners for the two-day fest are Skrillex, Grimes, Iggy Pop, Black Coffee, and Fred Again.
Additional acts scheduled to perform at the fest, which runs October 20-21, include Bone Thugs-N-Harmony, Caribou, Jeff Mills, TSHA, Gorgon City, SBTRKT, Caroline Polachek, The Blaze, VTSS, LANE 8, and many more.
The festival itself has become a staple music event in the Florida area thanks to its prior successful years with acts like FLUME, JOJI, and The Strokes. According to a press release, this year’s III Points festival “will celebrate its success in putting counterculture music on the South Florida map over the last 10 years” by announcing a line-up that “embodies the festival’s continued commitment to showcasing diverse and groundbreaking musicians.”
The festival has accomplished just that, given that the lineup features acts ranging from the “Godfather of Punk” Iggy Pop to EDM trailblazer Skrillex.
Another bolstering factor supporting the festival’s appeal is the highly decorated Despacio party and sound system created by LCD Soundsystem’s James Murphy, as well as Soulwax’s David Dewaele and Stephen Dewaele. The system intends to create an atmosphere that differs from other festivals, as it focuses on “its vinyl-only music standard” and produces “minimalist[ic] visuals that create a visceral experience,” per the festival’s press release.
The eclectic line-up and intricate atmosphere of the III Points festival is merely a part of the long-standing tradition the festival has regarding keeping it one of a kind and “ahead of the curve.” The festival’s Co-Founder, David Sinolopi, backs this notion.
“Being ahead of the curve hasn’t been easy and has required taking risks,” Sinolopi said. For Sinolopi, taking risks stems from his hopes of “build[ing] something different in Miami that the counterculture here can identify with.” Thus, one can seemingly expect a ground-breaking production from the Miami music festival this fall.
