While the new season of American Idol doesn’t air until the spring of 2025, the show is already making headlines as the producers announced Carrie Underwood would be the new judge. Taking over for Katy Perry, Underwood will join fellow judges Lionel Richie and Luke Bryan as they hunt for the next American Idol. And besides being a top name in the music industry, Underwood brings insider knowledge as she won season four. Wanting to celebrate Underwood and her new role on American Idol, Clarkson decided to channel the country singer when she covered “Blown Away” on Kellyoke.

Although fans love watching Clarkson rub shoulders with some of the biggest names in Hollywood on The Kelly Clarkson Show, nothing compares to the Kellyoke segment. Having covered numerous songs over the months, the singer recently gained praise for her cover of the hit Underwood song.
Gaining thousands of likes, fans loved listening to Clarkson honor Underwood with the cover. Comments included, “This was way better than the one she did on tour. Way more powerful. And more high notes especially the ending. Thank you lord for this version. It’s what I was hoping it would be.” Another comment included, “I tear up hearing you sing you show your feelings and heartfelt heart and soul. God blessed you with your beautiful voice.”
Furthermore, many fans played into the name of the track, stating “I am blown away by this performance.”

Carrie Underwood Goes Back To Where It All Started
Excited about the opportunity to judge on American Idol, Underwood shared a short video on Twitter that showed how her journey to stardom started. In the video, the hitmaker shared details of how the dream became a reality thanks to her mother’s willingness to drive her. She said, “I remember being at home in our little house and seeing on TV that there were auditions in St. Louis. My mom said, ‘If you want to go, I’ll drive you.’ “
Now a Grammy winner, Underwood insisted, “I went from nobody knowing my name to tens of millions of people watching the show.” She added, “I’m proud of everything that I was able to accomplish on the show, and I’m so proud of everything that I’ve accomplished since.”
