Huntley Takes ‘The Voice’ for a Ride on “Sunset Drive” With a Return Performance One Year After Winning

This time last year, Michael Huntley’s jaw dropped on national television as The Voice host Carson Daly declared him the winner of season 24. The Virginia blues-rock powerhouse earned a four-chair turn during Blind Auditions with a soaring performance of The Black Crowes’ “She Talks to Angels.” His young daughter, Stella, effectively clinched her dad’s victory by picking coach Niall Horan. Nearly a year later, the singer-songwriter (who goes by Huntley) returned to the set where his dreams came true—this time to perform something of his own.

Huntley Returns to ‘The Voice’

Huntley knows all too well how Jeremy Beloate, Danny Joseph, Shye Roberts, Sydney Sterlace and Sofronio Vasquez must be feeling. They are the five artists left battling it out for The Voice season 26 crown during Monday’s (Dec. 9) and Tuesday’s (Dec. 10) finale episodes.

However, the 34-year-old father of two faced a different kind of pressure this time around. Taking the stage during Monday’s (Dec. 9) episode, Huntley belted his latest single, “Skyline Drive.”

“Skyline Drive,” which dropped in late October, is The Voice champion’s “love song to Virginia.” In an Oct. 26 Instagram post, Huntley wrote, “After everything this past year, it felt right to pay homage to my home and remember where it all started.”

“Skyline Drive” is the second original song Huntley has released since winning The Voice. It follows “Tell Me When It’s Over,” his first release after signing with new management.

When Does ‘The Voice’ Return?

Soon, we’ll know the name of the Top 5 finalist who is joining Huntley among the ranks of past winners on The Voice. However, some fans are already anxiously looking forward to next season.

Season 27 of The Voice premieres Monday, Feb. 3, 2025, at 8 p.m. Eastern on NBC. Coach Michael Bublé will return to his big red chair fresh off his season 26 debut. Additionally, country-pop star Kelsea Ballerini gets her very own big red chair after filling in for then-coach Kelly Clarkson during season 20.

Veterans John Legend and Adam Levine round out the season 27 coaching panel, with fan favorite Levine returning for the first time since his 2019 departure.
