It got pretty hot in thurr during Hot Chip’s set at Bonnaroo this summer. Listening to Made in the Dark, it seems the British electro-pop nerds want to keep the hips gyratin’. The dark reggaeton/trance cocktail of “One Pure Thought,” Blade Runner funk of “Hold On” and robot rock of “Out at the Pictures” stage a sweaty dance-off for your ear.

But hips move more ways than one, and pop-cultured r&b (“Wrestlers”) and an Ace of bass line (“Were Looking for a Lot of Love” ) provides the deep tissue groove needed to move it to the hot tub. Which is nice when it gets too spastic (“Bendable Poseable”), or too sleepy (“Made in the Dark”). Bowchickawowwow.
