The Spotify Wrapped drop is an exciting time for listeners the world over. Those that choose Spotify as their preferred platform can get a roundup of their listening habits from the year. On the flip side, artists are also given their own tally of sorts. Between the two, we can get a pretty good picture of which artists are being listened to the most globally. It’s an interesting breakdown of the music industry. Sometimes the list is predictable, other times there are wild cards. Let’s break down the 2024 list of top artists and songs, below.

The top artist will come as no surprise to anyone. Taylor Swift has taken that prize for a second year in a row. Between her Eras Tour and The Tortured Poets Department, Swift has put a healthy amount of space between herself and all her peers. She’s nearly unreachable.
The rest of the list is somewhat expected as well. The Weeknd has taken the second spot with Bad Bunny following. Drake, Billie Eilish, and Ariana Grande also make an appearance among others. If anything is indicative of this list, it’s the fact that pop and rap remain the top genres in the world.
The top songs follow suit. The majority of the list consists of pop hits–including “Cruel Summer” and “Birds of a Feather.” Sabrina Carpenter takes the top spot with her summertime anthem “Espresso.” Elsewhere on the list are Hozier’s “Too Sweet,” Lady Gaga and Bruno Mars’ “Die With a Smile,” and Benson Boone’s “Beautiful Things.”
