Paramore played their first hometown show since 2018 at Nashville’s Grand Ole Opry House on Monday night (Feb. 6). Along with playing a set chock full of greatest hits, Hayley Williams brought out a cover that she performed at the group’s first Ryman Auditorium show around 13 years ago: Loretta Lynn’s “You Ain’t Woman Enough (To Take My Man).”

The frontwoman explained to the crowd that she wanted to dust off the 1966 tune as an homage to Lynn in the wake of her passing. Lynn died on October 4 at 90 years old.

The cover was mixed in with performances of the group’s 2010 rarity “In the Mourning” and Fleetwood Mac’s “Landslide.” Williams’ vocals went toe to toe with Lynn’s original version, hitting her lilting high notes with ease.

The Lynn cover rounded out a section of the show that saw Williams on stage alone with an acoustic guitar. Check out a fan-shot clip of the cover below.

The Opry show acted as a precursor to the release of Paramore’s highly-anticipated sixth studio album, This Is Why. The LP will arrive on Friday (Feb. 10). The group has already shared three singles from the impending project – “This Is Why,” “The News” and “C’est Comme Ca.”

Williams discussed the latter single with American Songwriter. “We’re putting out songs that show the range of the album,” she said. “We were really excited about ‘C’est Comme Ca’ when we wrote it. It makes me think of some of the most fun dance-punk songs that were popular when we were younger. I feel like it’s a high five to that style.”

To further celebrate the album’s release, the group has planned a global listening party on February 7. The free, but limited, events will take place synchronously at indie music stores around the world. Find a local listening party, HERE.
