On Friday at noon ET (September 15), Drake released his brand new single “Slime You Out” featuring SZA. The lead single for his upcoming album, For All The Dogs, “Slime You Out” has already garnered over 3.5 million streams on Spotify, helping to rev fans up for the LP, which is set to release on October 6. But, there was one notable celebrity displeased with the way the song’s release was handled.

When Drake first announced “Slime You Out” on Thursday, he did so by uploading the presumed cover art for the track to Instagram. Notably, the cover uses a photo of Halle Berry covered in green slime at Nickelodeon’s 2012 Kid’s Choice Awards. In the aftermath of this, though, it turns out that this decision angered Berry.
Taking to Instagram in the coming days, Berry posted a photo message that read: “Sometimes you have to be the bigger guy… Even if you’re a woman!” Though the note seemed a bit cryptic, fans of Drake knew that she was probably referring to the beloved Toronto rapper.
In the comment section of her post, a fan asked Berry directly her thoughts on the slime-filled cover art. “What are your thoughts of Drake using that picture of you for his single?” the commenter named @slicartist wrote.
This is where she finally issued a clear response.
“[He] didn’t get my permission,” Berry replied. “That’s not cool I thought better of him!”

She then typed a separate reply adding to her sentiment, basically saying Drake was a friend of hers that disappointed her.
“Hence my post today,” she added. “When people you admire disappoint you, you have to be the bigger person and move on.”
Ultimately, Drake and SZA did not use the Berry photo as the “Slime You Out” cover, instead opting to use the For All The Dogs album art drawn by Drake’s son Adonis. However, they both still have the photo up on their Instagram pages and have yet to respond to Berry’s remarks.
