Didn’t He Ramble, the second solo album from acclaimed singer-songwriter Glen Hansard, is set to drop September 18.
You may know him for his 25 years with Irish folk-rock group The Frames. You may just know him for “Falling Slowly.” No matter how you know him, Hansard sings to you like you’re worth knowing. “Winning Streak is simply a well wish to a friend, to someone who’s been finding it hard to see the goodness in their lives. It’s a pat on the back and an encouragement to try see the good and a blessing in the everyday. Each day we’re alive is a day we can reinvent or look at life from a different perspective. Nothing changes until we do, so it’s a song of encouragement to see these things and act on them,” says Hansard.
Didn’t He Ramble was produced by Thomas Bartlett (The National, Sufjan Stevens), a frequent collaborator of Hansard’s, and Grammy winner and former Frames band-mate David Odlum (Paloma Faith, Tinariwen), and features guest appearances by John Sheahan of The Dubliners, Sam Beam (Iron and Wine) and Sam Amidon.
The journey to finishing the record was long, but the reward of finally finishing was well worth it. Hansard explains, “I feel I’ve really dug deep for these songs, and I’ve been chasing specific ideas asking myself ‘what is it I’m trying to say with this line or idea?’ One would hope that through all of this that you find your voice. And, amazingly, you might find it in the smallest gesture of a song.”
