Garth Brooks has officially kicked off his Las Vegas residency at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace. Although Brooks is a country titan and seasoned performer, he says Sin City gives him pre-show jitters.

The “Friends in Low Places” singer caught up with Entertainment Tonight’s Cassie DiLaura to dish on his nerves going into his state-of-the-art show. When Brooks envisioned his residency, he wanted to bring the human connection to new heights – an aspect that is not incorporated in a stadium show.

“A stadium shows you just want pandemonium,” explained the hitmaker. “Here, it’s sucked back around. You want people to feel there with you. You want people to be thinking about their own lives when they are listening to you.”

When asked if he still gets nervous, the two-time Grammy Award winner replied confidently, “Yes.”

“You get nervous all the time,” the vocalist pointed out. “You don’t want to disappoint anybody, right?”

This is far from the first time Brooks has vocalized his small dose of stage fright. In 2016 he admitted that “staying busy” is a vital part of his showday ritual.

“You don’t want to be ready too early, to where you are just sitting around,” he said in a press conference before a New York City set, according to CMT. “So, you try to book your backstage things right up to the second when you go out on stage. So, you don’t have to get nervous.”

Nights before a big show, he often loses sleep. However, he declared that nerves are natural and normal.

“Hell, yeah, I still get nervous,” said Brooks. “That’s the fun part of it. You have those natural fears. The more you just go from hectic to being thrown out on the stage, the more you feel at home.”

Brooks has made Vegas his temporary home, as he recently added more dates to the critically run. The newly added shows are scheduled for next year from April to July 2024. When Garth Brooks/Plus One isn’t playing at the iconic venue, Adele graces the same stage.

Garth told ET that he would love to collaborate with the international pop star in the future. He can almost “imagine” performing “To Make You Feel My Love,” a duet they recorded in 2007.

“I can imagine it every day,” he said with a smile. “She sang the dog out of that record.”

Verified fans must register for tickets to Brooks residency by Thursday, May 25, for the new dates. Tickets will go on sale starting Tuesday, May 30.
