Flatland Cavalry have been together for a decade. Next month, they’ll celebrate that milestone with Flatland Forever. The album will be a greatest hits collection and a retrospective of the band’s career. It will feature songs from Come May, Humble Folks, Homeland Insecurity, Welcome to Countryland, Songs to Keep You Warm, and Wandering Star. Additionally, the collection will feature new songs and alternate versions of previously released songs. Today, they shared an unreleased song they’ve been sitting on since 2015.

For the last ten years, Flatland Cavalry has built a career on their country sound and relatable lyrics. This track takes listeners back to the early days of Flatland’s sound. Penned by frontman Cleto Cordero, “Three Car Garage” is an ode to a garage that holds more memories than cars.
Cleto Cordero on Flatland Cavalry’s New Single
In a press release, Cleto Cordero revealed that Flatland Cavalry almost put “Three Car Garage” on their 2015 EP Come May. However, it didn’t fit with the rest of the songs.
“The song ‘Three Car Garage’ never got a chance to make it on the Come May album because ultimately it’s just a song about a garage and it didn’t fit the emotional characteristics of the other songs,” Cordero explained. “However, it’s really special and important to me because our whole band got started in a garage. I remember just sitting out there skipping class, writing songs, and drinking beer. This one came to me in a moment and the band always loved playing it, and I’m so grateful we finally get a chance to record it,” he added.
The Perfect Time to Celebrate
After ten years of making great country music, Flatland Cavalry is finally starting to get their flowers. This year has been an explosive one for the band. Most recently, they announced Flatland Forever onstage during their headlining debut at Red Rocks. That was their second milestone debut of the year. They made their headlining debut at the Ryman Auditorium in February.
The band has also recorded songs for two major motion picture soundtracks this year. First, they had “Wool” on the soundtrack for The Hunger Games” The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes. More recently, they added “Touchdown” to the Twisters soundtrack.
Flatland has also notched 500 million streams and earned their first Gold certification for “A Life Where We Work Out.” The band also received their first ACM Award nomination this year, they were up for Group of the Year.
