Singer/songwriter Leon Majcen released his self-titled sophomore album earlier this year. The 10-track collection was packed with expertly crafted songs with stripped-down arrangements. Among those 10 hidden gems was the album highlight “Blue Sky.” With multiple new projects on the horizon, Majcen re-recorded the track with a fuller sound. Today (October 17), American Songwriter is proud to premiere the reworked track a day ahead of its official release. Hear “Blue Sky (Cloverdale Version)” below.

Leon Majcen on the New Version of “Blue Sky”
Earlier this year, we put out the new album and there was a song called ‘Blue Sky’ on it,” Leon Majcen said when asked about his next single. “We’re basically doing a re-work of that song. The version on the album was stripped down and had Dobro on it. This one’s almost got, like, a gospel thing to it,” he revealed.
“When I was diving into what I was going to do for the next album, we were playing that song live. Every time I played it with a full band, I would think ‘Man, I wish I recorded it this way. This version is more fun.’ I would like to just hear it like that sometimes. We made it a fun song,” he said.

Leon Majcen spent most of this year playing shows across the country with what felt like little to no strategy. Now, he’s working a rock-solid team of new managers & label at Cloverdale Records and booking team at Wasserman, Matt Runner (Colter Wall & Sam Barber), and Kiely Mosiman (Chappell Roan, Evan Honer, etc) and has a solid plan for the future. Currently, he’s on the road with JD Clayton on his Blue Sky Sundays Tour. “My team is looking at getting things up and going in 2025,” Majcen revealed. “I spent a lot of this year grinding it out on the road and playing a lot of shows that I don’t think I should have been headlining yet or markets I don’t think I was ready for,” he said. “In a way, that was good for me. I got my 10,000 hours in and got out there and made some new fans. But I definitely think there’s a healthier way of going about things and I’m excited to see some growth this year in a more sustainable way, while keeping my mental and physical health in mind”
To illustrate how much time on the road this year, Majcen said, “I got a truck in November to tour in and I’ve put 40,000 miles on it since then. It’s been a wild year.” He went on to say that he was still working a part-time day job and wanted to pursue music full-time. So, he was ready to take any opportunity he could get. “I was just ready to get out there,” he said.
