How would you feel if Kelly Clarkson and The Civil Wars had a musical baby? If you feel good about it, then you would like Erica Bryan.
ARTIST: Erica Bryan
SONG: This House Is Haunted
BIRTHDATE: May 28
HOMETOWN: Roswell, GA
CURRENT LOCATION: Nashville, TN
AMBITIONS: To make people feel something
TURN-OFFS: People who only talk about themselves
TURN-ONS: People who help others without taking credit
DREAM GIG: To play a stadium show!
FAVORITE LYRIC: I see skies of blue, and clouds of white. the bright blessed day, the dark sacred night. And I think to myself, what a wonderful world.
CRAZIEST PERSON I KNOW: Any of my friends (and myself) who are trying to make a living as a musician in this digital age. We’re crazy. But we’re not giving up.
SONG I WISH I WROTE: That’s the Night When the Lights Went Out in Georgia. Everything about that song is amazing, it is perfectly written.
5 PEOPLE I’D MOST LIKE TO HAVE DINNER WITH: Hmm I’m very into women’s rights and stopping injustice from domestic violence and human trafficking…so I think I’d bring over Susan B Anthony and Elizabeth Cady Stanton (from the Women’s Suffrage Movement), Rachel Lloyd from G.E.M.S. (gems-girls.com), Mary Lee Thompson (morningstarsanctuary.org), and Derri Smith (endslaverytn.org). We’d all eat a hearty meal so that after dinner we could change the world.
MY FAVORITE CONCERT EXPERIENCE: The best concert I’ve ever been to was Muse on their latest tour. Their video and light production blew my mind, and the fact that 3 people can make so much epic noise is crazy!
I WROTE THIS SONG: I wrote this song while I was going through a break up. I had to pass my boyfriends house every time I went home and when I got home, I would see all the pictures of him still up in my room. Then, as I was going to bed, I realized that I was wearing his old shirt. Even though we were apart, he was still all around me, and that’s how we came up with the idea of “This House Is Haunted.” I think this song not only relates to my situation, but also to anyone who has lost a loved one and is always reminded of them.
