On Tuesday (June 6), the museum announced that Eric Church: Country Heart, Restless Soul, will open in 2023 on July 13 and run through 2024 when it closes on June 9. “The exhibit will chronicle Church’s unique path to stardom, from his early years playing late-night gigs in bars and writing songs in Nashville to his current prominence as one of country music’s most authentic voices and revered rule-breakers,” as described in a press release.
Artifacts in the exhibit include instruments, outfits worn on stage, awards, tour memorabilia and more. There are also mementos from Church’s childhood growing up in North Carolina, including his high school yearbook and acoustic guitar he played as a child, as well as the Hummingbird Dark model guitar he helped design that he used on his 2019 Double Down Tour. Props from the video for his 2019 hit, “Some of It,” his signature Ray-Ban sunglasses and trucker hat, and the purple suede jacket he wore when performing the national anthem with Jazmine Sullivan at the 2021 Super Bowl are also on display.
“Eric Church has done it his way completely,” Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum CEO Kyle Young says in a press statement. “His steadfast artistic vision and authenticity resonate deeply with audiences, and he continues to serve as an important collaborator and renegade role model for generations of country music artists.”
Church is set to travel the country on his headlining The Outsiders Revival Tour which launches on June 22 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and continues through September 30 where it wraps in Tampa, Florida. The “Springsteen” hitmaker is bringing a massive rotating lineup of artists with him as supporting acts including Lainey Wilson, Ashley McBryde, Elle King, Jelly Roll, Parker McCollum, Morgan Wade and Hailey Whitters.
Church will headline Nissan Stadium during CMA Fest on Saturday (June 10).
