American Songwriter is excited to announce that the Grand Prize “Dream Co-Write” for our 2013 Amateur Lyric Contest will be with songwriter and Curb Records recording artist Lee Brice. Brice’s smash single “Woman Like You” reached #1 and has sold over 1.2 million digital downloads.

“It’s an honor to be featured in a magazine that celebrates the craft of songwriting,” said Brice. “I’ve got some big shoes to fill but I am definitely looking forward to sitting down with an aspiring songwriter. Songs are the foundation of country music – of all music – and writing is one of my favorite parts of the creative process.”

Brice, a current CMA nominee for New Artist of the Year, co-wrote eight of the thirteen tracks on his latest album Hard 2 Love. He also co-wrote the #1 hit “Crazy Girl” for the Eli Young Band. Other artists that have cut his songs include Kenny Chesney, Blake Shelton, Jason Aldean, Garth Brooks, and Tim McGraw, among others. Brice’s songs feature strong melodies and smart, emotional storytelling that aims straight for the heart of the human condition.

Brice, who hails from Sumter, South Carolina, got his start in Nashville as a songwriter. Soon after moving to town he landed a deal writing for Curb Music Publishing, co-writing some 150 songs in that first year alone. With his knack for inhabiting and not just delivering a song, the buzz around town was that Brice was a talent on the rise. That was certainly the case.
