Drake has now earned his twelfth career No. 1 hit on the Billboard Hot 100. On Monday (September 25), Billboard confirmed that the Toronto rapper’s September 15 single, “Slime You Out,” featuring SZA, topped their acclaimed songs chart this week, beating out tracks like Doja Cat’s “Paint The Town Red” and SZA’s competing hit “Snooze.”

This now means that Drake has the fifth most No. 1 hits of any musician ever, with his 12 being one less than the late-great Michael Jackson’s 13. On the same day as this achievement, though, Drake decided to let his petty side get the best of him. Via Instagram, he sent a response to hip-hop commentator Charlamagne Tha God, who recently criticized some of the lyrics in “Slime You Out” on his podcast, The Brilliant Idiots.
“Are you ok Lenard?? You kinda weirding me out g,” the MC said in a now-deleted Instagram story. “Like you really obsessed with me or something for years like you look in the mirror and wish you saw my reflection type shit. Whatever you gotta do to let it out I’m sure your 435 loyal fans will stand by you ya fucking goof.”

In fact, this is not the first bit of controversy surrounding “Slime You Out.” When Drake and SZA first promoted the song the day before its release, they both posted the intended cover art for the song on their Instagram pages, which used a photo of Halle Berry at the 2012 Kids Choice Awards covered in Nickelodeon’s patented green slime.
Though they did not end up using this as the official cover art, Berry still took issue with Drake and SZA’s maneuver, claiming she did not give them permission to use the picture of her.
“Cuz he asked me and I said NO that’s why,” she wrote in an Instagram comment responding to a user who questioned her anger. “Why ask if you intend to do what you want to do! That was the f*uck you to me. Not cool You get it?”
Regardless, though, “Slime You Out” is an excellent step in the right direction musically for Drake. The lead single for his upcoming solo album, For All The Dogs, arriving October 6, “Slime You Out” saw him establish incredible chemistry with SZA, on top of revisiting his trademark, spitefully sung R&B sound.
