Drake and His Father Dennis Graham Slam Joe Budden’s ‘For All The Dogs’ Comments

The talk of hip-hop over the weekend was Drake’s long-awaited new album For All The Dogs. Arriving on Friday morning (October 6), the Toronto rapper’s eighth solo LP included 23 new songs, with guest appearances from Bad Bunny, SZA (twice), 21 Savage, Teezo Touchdown, and more. However, while the album is aiming for a No. 1 debut and 450,000 units sold, not everyone in the rap community appeared to enjoy it.

Shortly after the For All The Dogs released, former MC and notable music commentator Joe Budden recorded an episode of his podcast, titling it 8:45am in Fayetteville. Sharing his discontent with the project, Budden asserted that Drake was leaning too much into a youthful approach on the album, resisting a natural evolution as an artist.

“You are 36,” Budden said. “Your birthday is in 20 days. I Googled that, too. You’re going to be 37 years old. Get the fuck away from some of these younger n****s. And stop fucking these 25-year-olds… I want to hear adult Drake rapping for adult people.”

Drake did not take very kindly to this. After another prominent hip-hop voice named DJ Akademiks reposted the clip from the Joe Budden Podcast on Instagram, Drake decided to leave a comment voicing his frustration with Budden.

“You have failed at music,” he wrote. “You left it behind to do what you are doing in this clip cause this is what actually pays your bills. For any artist watching this just remember you are watching a failure give their opinion on his idea of a recipe for success… [This] is a man projecting his own self hate and the fact I did and continue to do everything he wanted to do for himself.”

Then, Budden gave a succinct response to Drake, standing firm in his initial opinion. “You’ll grow up sooner or later… Father time is undefeated.”

It did not end there, though. In the following days, Drake would make an Instagram post of his own, captioning it with a subtle shot at Budden.

“I thank god for this life and not having to come to rushed conclusions on Best Buy podcast mics,” he wrote on Sunday.

This prompted Drake’s father Dennis Graham to join in on the fun, launching his own verbal attack on Budden.

“It’s a fucking shame that a young artist can’t do his own thing and enjoy his glory without an old hater motherfucker trying to bust his bubble because he has nothing going on, and to mention or put a limit on what age anyone should be dealing with which is none of his goddamn business as long as they’re of legal age,” Drake’s dad said in a comment under his son’s aforementioned post. “I am sick of these old fucking haters fucking with my son. if you don’t like what he does keep it moving motherfuckers, he’s not bothering you!!!!!!””
