Although Dominic Fike has been racking up major achievements collaboratively as of late, his solo essence has been missing from the alternative, pop rock scene for years. With his brand new single on April 14, though, he is revving his engines back up.

“Dancing in the Courthouse” is Fike’s first solo release since his July 2020 debut album What Could Possibly Go Wrong. Additionally, the new release is co-produced by the beloved Kenny Beats, who has worked with Fike before on songs like “Phone Numbers” and “Hit Me Up” with Omar Apollo.
On the fresh track, Fike is as positive and uplifting as he’s ever been, making way for a world of possibilities for the Florida-bred singer. Singing about perseverance and rebellion with his vintage twang, Fike sends a message to listeners to not worry about things they can’t control.
Weather controls your day
People make up your mind
Until you can’t even tell
When someone gives you a sign
But we make the ground our grave by layin’ in it
We make our problems fade by facin’ ’em
We make the wind our wings by raisin’ your arms
At the top of the world, yeah
In the two years prior to 2023, Fike was able to work with Justin Bieber on “Die for You” (2021), Slowthai and Denzel Curry on “Terms” (2021) and Paul McCartney on “The Kiss Of Venus” (2021). He also collaborated with Zendaya on “Elliott’s Song,” part of the soundtrack for HBO drama Euphoria, which he guest starred in. But this time, he did not put out any solo work.
With a cheery guitar and drum combo, “Dancing in the Courthouse” and its put ’em on trial hook embodies a new tone for Fike, which could hint towards a new era in the form of an upcoming project. At the moment, it’s unclear if this serves as a promotional single. But, as we approach the three-year anniversary of his last full-length effort, surely more music should be on the way. In the meantime, listen to “Dancing in the Courthouse” by Fike below.
