Dolly Parton Reveals Where She and Husband Carl Dean Like To Celebrate Their Anniversary—and “I’m Lovin’ It”

Embracing her song “9 to 5”, Dolly Parton continues to expand her career in country music as she released her 49th studio album, Rockstar, last year. And that is on top of her numerous businesses that include a theme park. While never seeming to slow down, the singer’s contributions to music and her business expertise helped her accumulate a net worth of over $650 million. But although she has more than enough fame and money, Dolly recently explained where she and her husband, Carl Dean, like to spend their anniversaries.

Appearing on the Dumb Blonde podcast hosted by Jelly Roll’s wife Bunnie Xo, Dolly felt right at home when she talked about her ongoing marriage to Carl Dean. Marrying back in 1966, the couple have continuously kept their love for each other out of the spotlight. And given the success that followed Dolly over the decades, it can be difficult. But when discussing their love and how they spent their lives, Dolly insisted they both love having normal lives. “Even on anniversaries and stuff like that, we usually stay home and make something special.”

While deciding to stay in on some special occasions, Dolly shared where fans could find them on an average day. “He loves Mexican food, period. But we go, we’ll go sit in a booth, if it’s an anniversary or just sometimes on a Saturday. We know where to go before the crowd comes. He doesn’t like big crowds.” Besides Dean’s love for Mexican food, he is also a fan of McDonald’s.

Dolly Parton Might Love The Spotlight, But Her Husband Doesn’t

Although Dean doesn’t like to share the spotlight, Dolly told Bunnie Xo how loved her husband was. “Everybody loves Carl. He don’t want me to tell the world nothing about Carl, so there you go. I can talk what I want to, but he’ll say, ‘Just leave me out the whole damn thing.’”

With many spouses loving to attend Hollywood parties and events, Dean isn’t a fan of the spotlight. Dolly explained, “He loves music, but he’s not the least bit interested in being in it. And he told me that right up front.” She recalled taking her husband to one event. “He said, ‘Look, now I want you to do everything you want to do, and I wish you the best, but don’t ever ask me to go to another one of these damn things because I ain’t going.’ And he never did.”
