Dixie Hall to be Honored at Country Music Hall of Fame

The late Dixie Hall will be honored at the Country Music Hall of Fame’s ninth annual Louise Scruggs Memorial Forum later this month.

Hall, who was the wife of songwriting legend Tom T. Hall, was a renowned music journalist, label owner, publisher and songwriter. She is the most recorded female bluegrass artist in history, whose work has been recorded by numerous artists, most notably Johnny Cash (“A Letter From Home,” “Torublesome Waters”) and Miranda Lambert (“All That’s Left”). She died in January after complications from a brain tumor at the age of 80.

The forum is set to be a celebration of Hall’s life, with interviews with colleagues, live performances of her songs and never-before-seen photographs. Guests for the event will include Sierra Hull, Rita Forrester, Carl Jackson, Chris Jones and Heather Berry-Mabe. Hall will be the first posthumous subject of the forum, with previous honorees being Denise Stiff, Liz Thiels, Mary Martin and Bonnie Garner, among others.

The event with be held on Wednesday Nov. 18 at 6:30 p.m. at the Country Music Hall of Fame’s Ford Theater. The event is free and open to the public, but RSVPs are requested. You can reserve a spot at the event by emailing eventsrsvp@countrymusichalloffame.org.
