According to NBC’s media site, Gilmour will be both a regular guest and the musical guest on The Tonight Show this Thursday, November 7. The show airs weeknights on NBC at 11:35 p.m. ET/10:35 p.m. CT.
Gilmour kicked off his five-night Madison Square Garden stand on November 4 and also played there the following night. The 78-year-old Rock & Roll Hall of Famer’s remaining concerts at the famous arena are scheduled for November, 6, 9, and 10.

Gilmour’s Recent Appearance on Later… with Jools Holland
Gilmour and his band also appeared on a recent episode of another late-night program—the popular BBC performance series Later… with Jools Holland. The U.K. show, which aired Saturday, November 2, featured David and company performing two songs from Luck and Strange. Gilmour also took part in an interview segment with host Jools Holland.
The tunes Gilmour played were the original “The Piper’s Call” and a cover of U.K. dream-pop duo The Montgolfier Brothers’ 1999 song “Between Two Points.” Romany contributed harmonies to the first song, and sang lead vocals and played harp on the second tune.
In the Q&A, Holland asked Gilmour why there’d been a nine-year gap between the release of his previous solo effort, Rattle That Lock (2015), and Luck and Strange.
“[There’s] been a lot of albums over a lot of years, and I’m slowing down a little bit at this point in my life,” he said. “I’m working all the time, but without a timetable. And it just takes a while.”
Gilmour then added, “The next one will be much quicker, I promise.”
More About Luck and Strange
Luck and Strange was released on September 6, and debuted at No. 1 on the U.K.’s Official Albums Chart. It became the longtime Pink Floyd singer/guitarist’s third solo studio effort to top the tally, after On an Island in 2006 and Rattle That Lock.
In the U.S., Luck and Strange bowed at No. 10 on the Billboard 200.
Luck and Strange features eight new original songs, plus the reworking of “Between Two Points.” The album’s title track features keyboard parts by late Pink Floyd co-founder Richard Wright that were originally recorded in 2007 during a jam session in a barn at Gilmour’s home.
