Nashville Obsolete, the second album from Dave Rawlings Machine, is set to drop September 18. Recorded on analog tape at Woodland Sound Studios, the album features seven original compositions co-written by Rawlings and his musical partner of two decades (not his machine) Gillian Welch. Produced by Rawlings, Nashville Obsolete features Paul Kowert (Punch Brothers) on bass, Willie Watson on vocals/guitar and guest appearances from Brittany Haas on fiddle and Jordan Tice on mandolin.
Rawlings and Welch will add another award to the mantle as they accept the Lifetime Achievement Award for Songwriting from the Americana Music Association. The award will be presented at the association’s 2015 Honors & Awards ceremony, which will take place September 16 at Nashville’s Ryman Auditorium and air on PBS later in the year.
Additionally, the duo are set to make a handful of special appearances as Gillian Welch, including the closing slot at the inaugural AmericanaFest concert at the new Ascend Amphitheater in downtown Nashville on Saturday, September 19.
