Dave Portnoy Claims Zach Bryan Banned Him From a Concert Over a “Joke” Involving Ex-Girlfriend

The news dropped this week that country star Zach Bryan and his girlfriend Bri LaPaglia ended their relationship. For the most part, the split has been all the younger fandom in country music has been talking about. However, it looks like there’s a new talking point circulating around about Bryan: Specifically that he banned Barstool Sports owner Dave Portnoy from attending one of his concerts. For context, LaPaglia famously works for Barstool Sports.

So, what really happened? Apparently, it all started because of a joke from Portnoy that Bryan wasn’t very happy about.

Why Did Zach Bryan Ban Dave Portnoy From His Concert?

In a tearful video posted to YouTube, LaPaglia said that she was “blindsided” by Bryan’s quick announcement of their breakup. Her boss and podcast co-host Dave Portnoy quickly came to her defense by sharing his not-so-positive opinions of Bryan on The Unnamed Show. Specifically, he outright called Bryan a “fraud” and made it seem as if he’s never been much of a fan of the “I Remember Everything” hitmaker.

Portnoy went on to say that Bryan was not happy with a joke that Portnoy made on the BFFs podcast in which he, LaPaglia, and co-host Josh Richards discussed LaPaglia’s dating life. Jokingly, her co-hosts said that she had a “revolving door” of significant others around the time she started dating Bryan.

Bryan allegedly didn’t enjoy the comment and banned both Portnoy and Richards from attending one of his concerts shortly before the Super Bowl. LaPaglia had to call her boss to tell him that he wasn’t welcome.

“I’m like ‘Hey Bri, what time are we meeting up to go?’” recalled Portnoy. “[…] She’s like, Zach has banned you from going to the concert. I’m like, ‘What? Banned? For what?’ Apparently, Zach went back, like, how many months was it? It had to be six months… We at one time on BFFs had a discussion where Bri just got a new boyfriend, and we’re like, ‘Whoa, that’s like your third boyfriend in barely a couple months.’”

It’s never a good thing for your boyfriend and your boss to have beef. Allegedly, the whole thing turned into a huge fight. However, it seemed like everything was water under the bridge after that incident. Bryan and Portnoy sang on-stage together in Boston soon after. In the wake of Bryan and LaPaglia’s breakup, though, we doubt that Bryan and Portnoy will be BFFs in the future.
