Valentine’s Day may be on your mind, but one of the year’s most important holidays is just around the corner: Record Store Day. As independent record stores gear up for the April 18 event, the team behind the festivities has announced a new ambassador: Dave Grohl.
Writing on RecordStoreDay.com, Grohl declares, “I found my calling in the back bin of a dark, dusty record store.” He goes on to share stories of the records and record stores that defined his musical upbringing, as well as how they can continue to do the same for future generations of musicians:
“I believe that the power of the record store to inspire is still alive and well, and that their importance to our next generation of musicians is crucial. Take an afternoon (and some hard earned lawn mowing money) and please support them. You never know, it might change your life forever, too.”
