Daily Discovery is presented by The Pub DealWin a $20,000 Publishing Contract from Secret Road Music Publishing, deadline May 31st 2014.

ARTIST: Vincent Poag

SONG: “For the Girls

BIRTHDATE: Old enough to know better

HOMETOWN: New York City

CURRENT LOCATION: New York City

AMBITIONS: I would like to see some of my songs covered by other artists like Phillip Phillips singing “Forever,” James Taylor singing “Little One” and Barbara Streisand singing “This Christmas”. I also think my songs naturally lend themselves to Disney movies, independent films and television.

TURN-OFFS: Traffic, waiting, know it alls, asshole drivers.

TURN-ONS: Family, friends, good food, music, movies, tennis, golf, the streets of NY and of course girls.

FAVORITE LYRIC: “How many ears must one man have, before he can hear people cry?”

CRAZIEST PERSON I KNOW: They have either mellowed or are dead.

SONG I WISH I WROTE: I can’t do just one…

·         “Blowin’ In The Wind” –Bob Dylan (How does anybody write something like that?)

·          “It Had To Be You” –Isham Jones and Gus Kahn

·         “Under My Skin” –Cole Porter

·         “Send In the Clowns” –Steven Sondheim

·         “Just the Way You Are” –Billy Joel

·         “Maybe I’m Amazed” –Sir Paul McCartney

·         “Marie” -Randy Newman

·          “Whistle A Happy Tune” – Richard Rodgers &  Oscar Hammerstein

5 PEOPLE I’D MOST LIKE TO HAVE DINNER WITH: I can’t do just 5… John Lennon, Steven Spielberg, Jack Nicholson, Nelson DeMille, Warren Buffet, Billy Crystal, Woody Allen, Jerry Seinfeld and Ellen DeGeneres (to keep it light)

MY FAVORITE CONCERT EXPERIENCE: Sir Paul McCartney and seeing Neil Young solo twice 30 years apart!

WROTE THIS SONG: “This Christmas” because there’s something in the air during this time of year. This season seems to bring out the best in people. I love the standards but was inspired to write something with a more contemporary message.
