ARTIST: The Jag – Answered by Aaron Tyler King

SONG: “Lucky Boy”

Hometown and Current Location: We (Aaron Tyler King, Gant O’Brien, Joe Regan and Nick Vallas) are originally from Jackson, Mississippi. We needed a change to maintain a creative progression so we relocated to Nashville in the Summer of 2011. Scott Harper lived next door at that time and became a member in early 2012.

Ambitions: I promise to utilize any platform we’re given to reach out, in a cultural sense, and pull down walls. So the younger humans can see more clearly, continue an open-minded search for their own individuality, and bring an end to religion and tradition.

Turn Offs: Schools and factories make me sick. I’d rather stand here and sell my penis.

Turn Ons: The open road in the month of always.

Dream Gig: The perfect “dream gig” would be in Kurt Vonnegut’s summer home in Cape Cod, circa 1952. The Birthday Party would perform Prayers on Fire in its entirety while Juliette Lewis dances around the living room with Tommy Lee Jones’ head on a stick.

Favorite Lyric: “It’s a circus…its a circus in here!”

Song I Wish I Wrote: “Rus Pu Tin” by Panadda Chayapark

5 People I’d like to Dine With: Terence McKenna, Nick Cave, Lou Reed, Jocelin Donahue and the last human.

Favorite Concert Experience: Foobar in East Nashville, October 22, 2015. It was the release of Pondermental Wonderment in Hypocricity. It marked the beginning of a new era for our music. I must have looked so excited while performing.

I wrote “Lucky Boy” because: In that moment, the summer of 2014, I was in need of a friend. A friend with a genuine understanding. The kind that will explore the further realms of experience with you. The friend that will go before you, exposing all the gateways in your mind that were hidden behind traditional thought. To have this friend in this lifetime is to be truly lucky.
