 SONG: “Kathleen”

HOMETOWN: Auckland, New Zealand

CURRENT LOCATION: Nashville, Tennessee

AMBITIONS:  Have a sustainable career from my own original music, sprinkled with guitar work for other artists.

TURN-OFFS: An inflated sense of self worth.  A sedentary lifestyle.  Smoking cigs.

TURN-ONS: Passion for something in life.  Doesn’t have to be what I’m passionate about, just a lust for some activity.

DREAM GIG:  Red Rocks Amphitheatre in Colorado.  I have concluded in recent months that the desert is my spiritual home.  I’ve also got some friends that have played there and seen concert footage which looks amazing.

FAVORITE LYRIC: “When a cowboy says women, he means two different kinds/there’s the real kind and then there’s the kind in his mind/ the real kind is a mystery that he can’t understand / but the mind kind he knows like the palm of his hand.”  – “Cowboy Song,” Dan Reeder

SONG I WISH I WROTE: “A Whiter Shade of Pale” – Procol Harum

5 PEOPLE I’D MOST LIKE TO HAVE DINNER WITH: Danielle Haim is my dream woman.  I can’t think of five people, only her.️

MY FAVORITE CONCERT EXPERIENCE: Playing NPR Mountain Stage in July of last year.  Tim O’Brien was hosting, the food was nice, the vibe was good, we had roadies and tech crew which was a nice change from our usual skeletal touring approach.

I WROTE THIS SONG BECAUSE… I’d had the main lyric idea for a while, it just popped into my head while driving to the coromandel one day.  Then, I read Lolita by Nabokov.  The story is so dark, but the man is kinda well intentioned.  I just found it a great story, and it’s basic framework worked with the lyric I had.
