ARTIST: Susie Wilkins
SONG: “Wasted Time“
BIRTHDATE: 2nd August
HOMETOWN: Hong Kong
CURRENT LOCATION: London
AMBITIONS: To move my studio out of my house!
TURN-OFFS: Style over substance and over-produced music.
TURN-ONS: Originality & honesty – even when it’s raw and imperfect.
DREAM GIG: I’ve already achieved a huge dream of mine: playing Shepherds Bush Empire. But I’d love to play there again as the headline, not the support! I’d also love to play Aimee Mann’s Christmas show at the Largo
FAVORITE LYRIC: “My body turns and yearns for a sleep
That won’t ever come
It’s never over,
My kingdom for a kiss upon her shoulder
It’s never over,
all my riches for her smiles when I slept so soft against her…
It’s never over,
All my blood for the sweetness of her laughter…
It’s never over,
She’s a tear that hangs inside my soul forever…” – Jeff Buckley
CRAZIEST PERSON I KNOW: Everyone I know is crazy in their own unique way. Isn’t creativity a form of madness?
SONG I WISH I WROTE: Watching The Wheels by John Lennon, Save Me by Aimee Mann
5 PEOPLE I’D MOST LIKE TO HAVE DINNER WITH: Amy Poehler, Aimee Mann, Stephen Fry, the Dalai Lama, Sandra Bernhard
MY FAVORITE CONCERT EXPERIENCE: I have two – Stevie Wonder in Hong Kong – my first ever gig, and Radiohead in Oxford in the pouring rain.. Very fitting!
I WROTE THIS SONG: On the eve of my 30th birthday – I had a minor crisis about already having had a 15 year music career and I realized in that moment I’d wasted time hoping for things in the future rather than enjoying the present.
