Daily Discovery: SJ, “Let Me Be”

Videos by American Songwriter

ARTIST: SJ

SONG: “Let Me Be”

BIRTHDATE: June 14

BIRTHPLACE: Cleveland, OH

AMBITIONS: Definitely not to rule the world.

TURN-OFFS: Pretentiousness (not to be confused with arrogance, which I don’t mind as long as it’s backed up).

TURN-ONS: That rare combination of pretty, smart, sweet and down-to-earth.

DREAM GIG: So, I start dreaming while I’m gigging, and everyone cheers “we love you so very, very, very much”.

TV ADDICTIONS: Breaking Bad, Leverage, The Colbert Report and The Daily Show.

CELEBRITY CRUSH: Hmmm….ok, Jessica Biel and Brandi Carlile.

DREAM VACATION: Doing what I love, every day, for the rest of my life.

5 THINGS EVERY MAN SHOULD OWN: Set of lethal ninja hands (obviously); a pocket knife (because everything is so freaking hard to open these days); a smidgen of charm (so to get laid every now and again); a guitar (also so to get laid); and a cup (both literally and metaphorically – (if you haven’t been kicked yet, it’s coming, and more than once).

WORDS TO LIVE BY: “It’s all about the song.”

I WROTE THIS SONG: Going through a long breakup, started it in Miami and finished it in Puerto Rico.
