ARTIST:  Rose’s Pawn Shop

SONG:  What Were You Waiting For

BIRTHDATE: November 24th 4013(I’m from the future. Trust me, don’t go there, its much better here)

HOMETOWN: Chatsworth/Simi Valley, CA

CURRENT LOCATION: Los Angeles, CA

AMBITIONS: A lifetime of making music, writing songs, singing and performing. Helping people maybe get some happiness or be comforted through music. Being present for life.

TURN-OFFS: Unorganized or lazy promoters, violent people, high fructose corn syrup.

TURN-ONS: Good people, music that resonates with your personal truth or experience, laughing, traveling, making music.

DREAM GIG: Hardly Strictly Bluegrass Festival(but we just did that one), so the next dream gig would probably be headlining Red Rocks or Hollywood Bowl, or maybe more realistically in the near future, supporting The Avett Brothers or Trampled By Turtles.

FAVORITE LYRIC: My favorite first line of a song is The Pogues Fairytale of New York:
“It was Christmas Eve babe, in the drunk tank”. My favorite lyric of all time? Hard to say. These chorus lines from Ani Difranco’s Swandive came to mind: “They can call me crazy if I fail, all the chance that I need/Is one in a million and they can call me brilliant if I succeed/Gravity is nothing to me, moving at the speed of sound/Just gonna get my feet wet until I drown” and “I don’t care if they eat me alive/ I’ve got better things to do than survive/ I’ve got memory of your warm skin in my hands/ And I’ve got a vision of blue sky and dry land”

CRAZIEST PERSON I KNOW: Me. But that’s cause I hear all the crazy shit that goes on in my head all the time. Other than myself, maybe this guy Brett, but you don’t know him.

SONG I WISH I WROTE: “American Pie” by Don Mclean. When asked what “American Pie” meant, McLean replied, “It means I don’t ever have to work again if I don’t want to.”

5 PEOPLE I’D MOST LIKE TO HAVE DINNER WITH: My Dad, Buddha, Jesus, Gillian Welch and David Rawlings, this one girl who will remain nameless…

MY FAVORITE CONCERT EXPERIENCE:  Toss up between being in the pit at a Rage Against the Machine concert when I was 18 and everytime I’ve seen Gillian Welch and David Rawlings perform.

I WROTE THIS SONG: “What Were You Waiting For” was started in our bus while driving down the I-5 from Portland to LA with the band sitting around and messing with some ideas. I finished it back in LA. It’s the story of a tumultuous relationship finally coming to an end. Being in love with someone, but finally knowing the relationship is just wrong and isn’t going to work, and having to let it go and walk away.
