I WROTE THIS SONG BECAUSE… My Father’s Memoires, entitled, “Collard Greens,” richly and colorfully documented events and circumstances surrounding”‘Growing up on a Subsistence Farm in North Louisiana during the Great Depression.” Writing a folk song commemorating this was an obvious necessity for his songwriter son. Looking back, “Collard Greens” should’ve been the title of the album!
