MY FAVORITE CONCERT EXPERIENCE: It wasn’t really a concert experience, but it was meeting Steve Earle in the Jackson MS airport. My fiancé and I saw this guy and we both thought it looked like him and while she was googling “Steve Earle’s tattoos”, I snuck up behind him and read the name on his take out coffee, “Steve”. Anyway, we introduced ourselves and he was an incredibly lovely man. Knowing you can’t take open drinks though security, I went through the garbage next to where he was sitting (security on my ass and I was telling them “looking for Steve Earle’s coffee cup!”), found his coffee cup and now it’s sitting above the mantle of my fireplace back home in Mississippi.
I WROTE THIS SONG BECAUSE… : When I first met my wife, I thought, “Damn, she’s trouble, I’m in!” That was pretty much how the song started but it goes deeper than that. The meanings of my songs always evolve over time, for me at least. For me now, this song is more about intuition, taking a chance, realizing I’m not always right and letting myself fall in love, despite myself.
