ARTIST: Jake Etheridge

SONG: Change

BIRTHDATE: 4/25/1988

HOMETOWN: Columbia, SC

CURRENT LOCATION: Nashville, TN

AMBITIONS: My very favorite moments are in my car driving at night listening to songs and feeling the lyrics. More than anything I want people to hear my music, be able to relate and feel something.

TURN-OFFS: Complaining, Pride, Lip Gloss

TURN-ONS: Confidence, Positivity, Canadians

DREAM GIG: Opening up for Ryan Adams definitely would not hurt my feelings.

FAVORITE LYRIC: I have so many that it’s incredibly difficult to choose.. but one that’s on my mind this very minute that i’m in love with has to be David Ramirez from his song ‘Shoeboxes’ – “Cause it kills me to see you, but it kills me not to, It kills me to remember, oh and it kills me to forget”

CRAZIEST PERSON I KNOW: My good friend John Vesely of Secondhand Serenade.. Easily takes the cake for this question. From late night Broadway bar crawling to cliff jumping at the lake.. Never a dull moment and we love him for it.

SONG I WISH I WROTE: Cover Me Up – Jason Isbell…

5 PEOPLE I’D MOST LIKE TO HAVE DINNER WITH: My grandfather, Emma Watson, Stephen King, Paul McCartney(cliche but certainly true), Audrey Niffenegger

MY FAVORITE CONCERT EXPERIENCE: Every time my friends The Mowgli’s come to town they put on an unforgettable show.. Usually i’m all about low key acoustic concerts but these guys (and girl) kill it with their high energy and passion for love.

I WROTE THIS SONG:  I wrote ‘Change’ a few years back when I was dating a girl in college.  I was careless and took her affection and who she was for granted.  I wrote this song about all the things she used to say and about all her hollow threats to leave.  “What if you’d really meant it, through your tired eyes and gritted teeth, the words you sold”.  The song is a question to her, about accepting and acting on her words and intentions. Eventually she did and she left.  That is ‘Change’.
