ARTIST: Fleurie

SONG: “Chasing All the Stars

BIRTHDATE: 10/10/1990

HOMETOWN: Canton, MI

CURRENT LOCATION: Nashville, TN

AMBITIONS: Inspiring people to dream and hope and find their voice! Working with filmmakers to write soundtracks for movies. I would love to travel the world and play amazing venues in all sorts of places for all sorts of people. I am an atmosphere person; I love creating (or setting the stage for) moments where people sense their hearts being changed and their souls being renewed. I think writing and playing music is such a gift and an honor!

TURN-OFFS: Blood & gore – I have the weakest stomach! Cannot handle scary movies and many action movies

TURN-ONS: Libraries, pajamas, late night drives to the middle of nowhere…cozy things & people & places

DREAM GIG: A Euro tour

FAVORITE LYRIC:

“I need words as wide as sky

I need a language large as this longing inside”

(David Crowder)

CRAZIEST PERSON I KNOW: My New Zealander cliff-jumping, endlessly adventuring, former college roommate Emma who constantly tried to drag me off to the beach to attempt dangerous feats with her…

SONG I WISH I WROTE: Cannonball by Damien Rice

5 PEOPLE I’D MOST LIKE TO HAVE DINNER WITH: Chris Martin, Albert Einstein, Sufjan Stevens, C.S. Lewis, and my late great-aunt Ruth who I never got to meet

MY FAVORITE CONCERT EXPERIENCE: Kimbra at The Enmore in Sydney!

I WROTE THIS SONG: In a few different pieces & a few different places. Started writing it in a practice room in Michigan during finals week my freshman year of college and finished it  in my last year of college at a piano on the third floor of a convention center in Sydney, Australia overlooking a parking lot. The meaning of it has grown so much for me, developed layers and greater significance and depth. At its core, it’s about great distances between you and those you love and navigating through life in a world that always seems to be trying to get you to compromise your true self in pursuit of something much more fleeting and, in the end, truly unsatisfying.
