Videos by American Songwriter

ARTIST: Luke Robert Foley, Farewell Flight

SONG: Scarecrow

BIRTHDATE: 02/23/1985

HOMETOWN: Westminster, MD

CURRENT LOCATION: Nashville, TN

AMBITIONS: To think up some good ambitions.

TURN-OFFS: Know-it-alls, one-uppers, paperwork, vehicle trouble, being late, misplacing things.

TURN-ONS: My redhead bombshell wife certainly starts my engine, but I’m also into afternoon naps, a cold bottle of Yuengling after mowing the lawn, paying bills on time, people that like me and/or laugh at my jokes, licensing checks, and anything regarding time travel.

DREAM GIG: I would love to write music for a classic-style Disney animation film. Performance-wise, playing on SNL wouldn’t bother me.

FAVORITE LYRIC: She picked me up on Friday, asked me if she reminded me of you / I just laughed and lit a cigarette, said “That’s impossible to do.” – Ryan Adams, Dear Chicago

CRAZIEST PERSON I KNOW: My cat Fuzz is pretty wild. Right now, she’s sleeping next to me but a few minutes ago, she had this hair tie she was playing with…aw man, you just had to see it. It was crazy.

SONG I WISH I WROTE: Round Here by The Counting Crows

5 PEOPLE I’D MOST LIKE TO HAVE DINNER WITH: Myself at ages 7 and 42, Jesus, my future best friend Ryan Gosling (though he doesn’t know it yet), and my wife Jess.

MY FAVORITE CONCERT EXPERIENCE: Getting fast food afterwards! Nom nom nom

I WROTE THIS SONG: As a collection of snapshots from a relationship with my first real love as an adult. Those photos now only exist in my head (since I burnt all of the real ones years ago), and they’ve morphed and evolved over time into a collage of memories that are recalled the way most people do: out of order and not how they happened, but how I remember them.
