AMBITIONS: My dream is to be a successful musician! That is an extremely vague answer, but I have put a lot of thought into what that looks like. I see two tiers of what I would consider successful, and I would be happy with either one. The first level would be to be able to write, record, and periodically tour with my music and have it be self-sustaining, all while still working in another field to bring in living expenses. The second level of success would be to be able to make a full-time living in music so that my interests are not divided by another career that pays the bills. Ultimately, that second tier is my longterm goal.

TURN-OFFS: Artists that become so self-absorbed that they forget that we have a responsibility to be agents of change in the world. I think we should all be seeking to make the world a better place and use our platform to raise awareness of a worthy cause.

TURN-ONS: That spiritual experience when the perfect lyric meets just the right melody line in my head and moves beyond a project to a budding new song

DREAM GIG: I’d be heaven if I got to play Redrocks!

CRAZIEST PERSON I KNOW: Probably my son Asher. He’s so full of energy and would ricochet off the walls if we let him. Probably also the happiest person I know.

MY FAVORITE CONCERT EXPERIENCE: Saw John Butler Trio with Trevor Hall as the opener at Redrocks! Stellar show!

I WROTE THIS SONG: for my first album, “Away We Go,” which I released December 2012. It’s a song of unrequited love, which makes it unique among other songs out there… oh wait! But seriously, I love playing this song because of how it builds melodically and because of the unique time signature changes. It was fun to record, too, with mandolin, accordion, and glockenspiel making subtle appearances.
