ARTIST: Allen Thompson

SONG: “Dirt To Dust”

BIRTHDATE: August 19, 1981

BIRTHPLACE: Roanoke, Virginia

AMBITIONS: to not stop dreaming.

TURN-OFFS: boy bands

TURN-ONS: girl bands

DREAM GIG: Any gig that involves playing with former members of The Band or The Grateful Dead. Garth Hudson, if you’re reading this, call me.

TV ADDICTIONS: My TV broke about 3 months ago. Haven’t bothered to get it fixed. Before that, “Parenthood.”

PETS: 60 lb., 8 month old Golden Doodle named Levon Helm.

THE BOOK THAT CHANGED MY LIFE: I got the band to help out with this one: “On The Road” by Jack Kerouac. “The Marriage of Heaven and Hell” by William Blake. “Dubliners” by James Joyce. The Liner Notes to Europe ’72.

5 THINGS A MAN SHOULD OWN: A dog, a bicycle, a record player, a copy of Deja Vu by Crosby, Stills, Nash, & Young, patience.

THINGS I LOVE THE MOST: My wife. My dog. Listening to songs. Writing songs. Learning songs. Coffee. In that order.

I WROTE THIS SONG: with my good friend Don Gallardo. Its about the ongoing drought in California’s Central Valley. The situation that’s been going on down there is pretty tragic. 3rd and 4th generation farmers are suffering at the hands of politicians who would rather spend their time and money blaming one another than working together to find solutions to our country’s problems. Its a shame.
