“Sisters of Avalon”
Lauper’s first pick on hjer list of favorite songs to sing is a deep cut, the title track of her fifth studio album, Sisters of Avalon, which was released in 1996.
“It’s an underground thing,” Cyndi notes of the tune, which she co-wrote with Jan Pulsford. “I play a little guitar and its rock.”

“Girls Just Want to Have Fun”
Her second choice is an obvious one, her signature tune “Girls Just Want to Have Fun.”
Lauper says she loves performing her breakthrough 1983 hit “because I never really know what’s really going to happen.” She adds, “Depends on the audience and it’s always fun.”
“Girls Just Want to Have Fun” appeared on Cyndi’s debut solo album, She’s So Unusual, and peaked at No. 2 on the Billboard Hot 100.
“All Through the Night”
Lauper’s third pick is another song from She’s So Unusual, “All Through the Night,” which was written by Jules Shear.
Cyndi explains that when she sings the tune, she starts thinking about French chanteuse Edith Piaf. She adds, “I know that’s a little far-fetched, but that’s, pretty far-fetched.”
“All Through the Night” reached No. 5 on the Hot 100.
“Shine”
Next on her list is another lesser-known tune from her catalog, “Shine,” the title track of her eighth album, which was released in 2002.
“It makes people feel good,” she notes.
“She Bop”
Lauper’s fifth and final choice is yet another hit song from She’s So Unusual, “She Bop.”
Cyndi jokingly explains that she likes singing the tune “because, let’s face it, sometimes we’re all just a bunch of wankers.” The singer’s comment, of course, is a joking reference to the fact that “She Bop” is about masturbation.
Incidentally, “She Bop” peaked at No. 3 on the Hot 100.
