Jeff Bridges picked up a Golden Globe on Sunday for Best Actor In A Drama for his portrayal of country musician Bad Blake in the movie Crazy Heart. It was the veteran actor’s first Golden Globe Award, and fourth nomination. Bridges beat out George Clooney and Morgan Freeman for the honor.

Crazy Heart won the Globe for Best Original Song, for “The Weary Heart” by T-Bone Burnett and Ryan Bingham. The soundtrack, in which Bridges and co-star Colin Farrell perform songs by Waylon Jennings, Buck Owens and Sam Phillips, is out now.

When asked what substance Bridges used to get into the role, the man who once portrayed “The Dude” in the Big Lebowski answered, Haagen-Daz. Bridges is said to be in contention for an Oscar for his nuanced role as Blake.

The movie is dedicated to singer-songwriter and guitar virtuoso Stephen Bruton. Watch a video about Stephen Bruton’s life and accomplishments below.
