Converse continues to make waves in the music world. On May 2, they’ll accept applications for their community-based Rubber Tracks studio in Brooklyn (see our feature article on the studio here), which will offer affordable studio time to up-and-coming musicians. Those looking to record there should visit www.converse.com/rubbertracks.

Converse will be giving out “Golden Record” invitations to a select lucky bands at this year’s South By Southwest Festival. The company’s presence in Austin can also be felt at “Boston To Austin,” where they’ll host eight Boston bands, and at Saturday’s Rolling Stone Rock & Roll BBQ, which they’re co-sponsoring. One of the bands performing on the bill is Beast Make Bomb, the winners of Converse’s Get Out Of The Garage Music Contest. Converse will also be introducing emerging Chinese bands Queen Sea Big Shark and Carsick Cars at the Festival.
“Converse is dedicated to championing and supporting artists, fans and the global music scene,” said Geoff Cottrill, Converse Chief Marketing Officer, in a statement. “This year, we’ve dedicated our efforts towards several new initiatives that all have a common thread – providing young artists with the ability to have their voices heard and providing them with opportunities that will be a catalyst for creativity. We’re looking forward to offering some incredible new bands the opportunity to do just that at this year’s festival.”
