It had to happen eventually. Chris Martin, husband of Country Strong actress Gwyneth Paltrow and leader of multi-platinum English rock act Coldplay, may soon be making waves in the country music world.

Martin, who’s collaborated with Jay-Z and Kanye West, has written several songs with Faith Hill, Hill’s husband Tim McGraw told Chelsea Handler on a recent episode of Chelsea Lately. Martin, who was in Nashville while Paltrow was filming Country Strong, took time out to team with Hill.

“My wife is a huge Coldplay fan, and they spent a lot of time writin’ songs,” said the country star, whose latest single, “Felt Good On My Lips,” is no. 1 on the Billboard country chart for the second week in a row. “I don’t want to start any rumors or anything, but I ain’t heard any songs yet. But he’s English, so I’m not too worried.”

Meanwhile, Martin tells the BBC that the band’s upcoming, Brian Eno-produced followup to Vida La Vida or Death and all His Friends” is about “love, addiction, OCD, escape, and working for someone you don’t like. [It’s a] thinly veiled account of what happens within the group.”
