Paired with the trend’s many videos showing off breezy linens and Tecovas is the lulling voice of Colbie Caillat and her staple songs like “Bubbly” and “Fallin’ for You.” The Malibu, California, native is set to make many Gen Z happy as she gears up to release new music – just in time for ‘coastal cowgirl’ summer to hit full swing.

Caillat has announced a new song, set to be released on Friday, April 21, titled “Worth It.” Caillat wrote the song with 2023 Songwriters Hall of Fame inductee Liz Rose and AJ Pruis. Though she hasn’t shared any tasters of what the song might sound like, she did give an insight into the meaning behind the lyrics.

“Worth It” is said to be a reflection of a failed relationship. Despite a breakup, Caillat is able to see the silver linings of their time together.

Caillat has shared some of the lyrics: I know it wasn’t perfect but lovin you was worth it / There’s still sweetness in the memories even after all the hurting / Even after all the long nights / Not quite knowin if it felt right / I wouldn’t change a thing / I know it wasn’t perfect / But lovin you was worth it.

The song marks Caillat’s first solo release since 2016. Prior to announcing the song, Caillat shared a collection of her biggest hits to date, Will You Count Me In. Among the track list are fan-favorites like “Bubbly,” “Lucky” with Jason Mraz, and “Brighter Than The Sun.”

When she announced the collection on social media, Caillat also revealed she was in the studio working on new music, hinting at the eventual release of “Worth It.”

“I’ve been in the studio writing and recording and am gearing up to release a new song later this spring,” she wrote at the time. “More on that soon… but in the meantime, head to the link below to listen to Will You Count Me In.”

In the downtime between new solo releases, Caillat had been one of the lead vocalists for the pop-country group Gone West – also consisting of Justin Young, Jason Reeves, and Nelly Joy. The group shared the full-length album Canyons in 2020 featuring the RIAA gold-certified single “What Could Have Been,” prior to their disbandment later that year.

“After a lot of thought during this time, Justin and I have decided to leave Gone West,” Caillat shared at the time. “Creative partnerships, especially with friends, can be challenging at times, and though this was not an easy decision, we know ending the band was the right one.”

“Worth It” is just the start of more music set to come from Caillat throughout the year.
