Earlier this month, Kid Cudi announced that his Moon Man’s Landing Festival would return to his hometown of Cleveland, Ohio, for the second year in a row. With a lineup full of stars like Cudi himself, Lil Uzi Vert, Coi Leray, and more, the August event was set to add momentum toward Cudi’s impending September studio album INSANO. However, on Wednesday (June 28), Cudi had to break the news to fans that Moon Man’s Landing was no longer looking like it was going to happen.

“Hey guys, Got some bad news,” Cudi wrote on Twitter. “Im gonna have to cancel Moon Man’s Landing this year. I know [you] guys wanted an outdoor festival, and so did I, but the city wouldn’t approve it. And instead of canceling the whole thing I decided to have it at the arena because I still wanted to bring something cool to the city, but I know [you] guys weren’t feeling it.”
Cudi would continue by saying that he still planned to continue the event in 2024, and was going to try his best to secure an outdoor stage.
“Don’t even trip!! Here’s the good news,” he added. “I’m bringing the fest back next year, hopefully [with] some of the same line up and it will be in an outdoor venue. Only thing is, it might have to be over an hour outside of Cleveland. I saw some people say they don’t mind the drive if I did make it outside of the city, so let me know feedback v’all! I doubt the city will approve anything in the city, but Moon Man’s Landing is not dead! And we will find a better place for u all to have an epic time at. Promise. Big bro got u.”
Additionally, Cudi wrote in a separate note how much Moon Man’s Landing meant to him, considering that festivals are not commonplace around Ohio.
“P.S. when I was grown up in Cleveland there wasn’t much cool shit goin on,” he said. “I didn’t even know about festivals until I got booked on one. The city needs things for the kids, needs cool shit, needs things for the culture. I will not stop until we elevate the whole experience of coming to Cleveland. I spent years dealing [with] mental health struggles, and now [I’m] in a better place to lead and be there for my city. I love y’all!!!”
Upon learning of this cancelation, Cleveland’s mayor Justin Bibb quoted Cudi’s tweet offering to help him execute this year’s fest.
“Shoot me a DM or email at mayorbibb@clevelandohio.gov and let us know how we can help,” Bibb tweeted to Cudi.
Cudi would soon get to work on this, reviving hope for Moon Man’s Landing to still happen at some point in 2023.
“Just had a great call [with] @MayorBibb about the festival, Stay tuned,” the rapper tweeted. “Working fast to find a solution to still do it this year! Thanx Justin for making yourself available brother.”
It’s currently unclear if Cudi’s plans for the festival are still going to be able to be executed, whether it be indoors or outdoors. But, a helping hand from his hometown’s mayor will surely go a long way in these efforts.
